I have been photographing this sweet girl and her family for a few years now. How cute is it that her Birthday happens to be during the Valentines Season of Love! Every year we do a Birthday Photo shoot and I create a 10×20 collage that her parents replace in a frame every year.

I ask her Mom ahead of time what she is wearing so I can prepare my studio. How cute are her tights that have hearts all over them? I got lucky because I only knew she was wearing a red top and jean skirt. I was already laughing the day before when her Mom had tagged me in an Instagram post showing me her posing getting ready for Ms. Cindy!  I know this is why I love my job so much! Because this sweet girl comes to see me a few times a year she know what to expect and I know I am going to laughing the whole time! The cupcake is actually fake! I picked it up at Hobby Lobby. It was probably a good decision on my part because it was dropped a few times. It looks good though doesn’t it?  You can watch all the fun we had in the short video. It was hard to pick the images because I could have just kept clicking all day and it was hard not to edit every single one!  Her mom even messaged me “we sat down and we can’t decide. We literally want them all!”  I call that a successful Birthday Photo Session! You can see her 3 Year old Birthday Session Here

If you are a Photographer and you found this through Pinterest or Google and you would like to know my sources: Collages I create myself via Photoshop. But there are a lot of designers out there. My digital papers for my backgrounds I get from several places. My favorite is Sassy Designs Inc. Teri runs a lot of sales but even if she doesn’t her prices are inexpensive. Because this was a child I just used simple bulletin board paper you can find at any teacher supply or Hobby Lobby.  If you are doing families I suggest the larger rolls of salvage paper. I like paper for the white because it doesn’t show wrinkles. The hearts are simply cut from card stock hung with spray painted mini clothes pins on bakers twine. The fluffier garland has been in my prop stash for years. The wood backdrop is actually a floor I usually use. This one is from Denny Manufacturing.   I shot this with my Alien Bee lights in my small studio.
